How to ensure your background is displayed correctly

If you use a background image in your online store that is either small or too small, this image may be tiled – simply put, displayed several times to cover the entire screen. Whether this happens and if so, how, depends on the visitor’s screen size.

There are two ways to solve this issue:

  • You can increase the size of your background image to a width of over 2200 pixels. In most cases, the cut-off point will fall outside the screen, and visitors will not be able to see it. Do ensure your image size does not exceed 1 MB though, because if it does, it cannot be uploaded via the back office.

  • Another option is to use so-called ‘repeating images’, i.e. smaller images that seamlessly tile together and are therefore ideal to be used as background images.
