December is the month when coziness prevails at home. And what’s a December without presents? 1. Inspire with your December bestsellers

This time of the year it’s all about Christmas sweaters, fancy watches, beautiful gadgets and wintery home accessories. Put these December bestsellers in the spotlight on your website to inspire your visitors who are scouring the web for gift ideas and items to give their house that lovely Christmas feel!

Put these inspiring gift ideas in different categories, so that your visitors will immediately see whether or not an item is relevant to them. You could arrange your products by price, for example with the category ‘gifts under 10 euro’, or by sex, for example ‘gifts for him/her’.

2. Give your online store a Christmas makeover

Are your December bestsellers not really Christmas-worthy? Or would you like to give your online store more of a Christmas feel? Try treating your website design to a Christmas makeover, for example with a Christmas header or a festive photo slideshow on your homepage.

3. Waive shipping costs

Shipping costs… don’t we all hate them? Not only do you need to pay for your purchase, you have to add shipping costs too! Does one of your competitors sell a (similar) product with free shipping? Then chances are your visitors will go to them. To boost your sales in December, why not waive shipping costs (for purchases above a certain amount)? That might push hesitating customers to place an order after all.

4. Guarantee a fast delivery

When you order online, you want to receive your parcel asap, especially if it’s a last-minute Christmas gift. To boost your sales, guarantee your customers a fast delivery. Needless to say, you have to make sure you can keep your promise, otherwise your customers might find themselves empty-handed around the Christmas tree!

5. Pamper your customers with a giveaway

Since December is the month of giving, why not add a fun giveaway to your order? A lovely little extra that your customers will definitely appreciate, such as a beautiful candle with a candle holder or some loose-leaf tea with a mug. And why not add a (preferably hand-written) Christmas card wishing them happy holidays and lots of fun with their purchase? This will make your customers smile and they’ll definitely remember you when they’re thinking of their next order.

6. Wrap your parcels nicely

One of the few moments when you can actually earn a customer’s loyalty is when they receive your parcel. So wrap your products nicely, so that they look like gifts. An additional advantage is that some nice and sturdy wrapping ensures the contents won’t get damaged during shipping. Was the parcel a gift for someone other than the customer? Then they won’t need to put in any extra effort to wrap it up! You can also offer a wrapping service via your online store.

By going the extra mile (particularly during the holidays) opening the parcel becomes a great experience. Rest assured your customers will remember you when they want to order another product. Keen to find out more about boosting your sales thanks to nice packaging? Have a look at this blog post

7. From December boost to January boost

’Tis the season to be jolly… That’s right! In fact, many online merchants see a boost in their sales in December, but the following month, the sales decrease again. So how can you keep your sales up in January too? Well, by encouraging your customers to return to your online store in the new year. Think of a fun January promotion to send to your customers along with their December orders, e.g. a discount voucher for one item of their choice to be used the following month.
